Furry Valentine’s Day

The Friends of the Animal Shelter (FOTAS) is kicking off its 20th anniversary with the opportunity to send Furry Valentine’s Day greetings to loved ones – both two-footed and four-footed. FOTAS is offering to send a Valentine’s Day card from you or your pet to a loved one, or a loved one’s pet, with a message of love for a nominal donation.

Not only will the sender (or their pet) be expressing their deepest (and furriest) feelings, but they’ll also be helping deserving puppies, dogs, kittens and cats find their own loving homes.

Of the more than 150 cards that have been ordered to date, messages expressing love, adoration and gratitude from pets to their “mom, dad, auntie and grandma” include “I love to cuddle with you,” “I’m not overweight; I’m under-tall,” and “To the best canine vocalist!”
Valentine’s can be ordered via the www.fotas.org website or by contacting Eliza Kauder, FOTAS Treasurer, at (541) 482-8172 or eliza@mind.net.

FOTAS is a 501(c) 3 non-profit that organizes several hundred volunteers who help socialize pets up for adoption at the Jackson County Animal Shelter on Hwy 99 in between Phoenix and Talent. Activities include playing with cats and dogs at the Shelter; adoption counseling; bringing adoptable pets to off-site locations; manning the Shelter’s monthly low-cost shot clinic; and promoting spay/neuter. New volunteers are always welcome.
