It was a tough year for the club, suffering poorer attendance than the year before. Overall, the regulars played more games, though. Here are the statistics for 2009 and the overall career statistics:

We play with the Official Club and Tournament Word List, based on collegiate dictionaries. That is as standard as you can get.

We use the Official Tournament and Word Club List. Alternately, for those willing, we can use Collins Scrabble Words, which is the word source used in almost every country outside of the United States and Canada.

Ashland Scrabble club plus one person from Klamath Falls had FIVE representatives at the Portland Labor Day Scrabble tournament. Congratulations to Ron Gideons for dominating division 3, winning first place. Julius Chaney played in his first major tournament, winning eight of his games and winning two prizes in division 4: High scoring play, a 203 point play (ARACHNES, a nice phony); and high scoring game, 627 points, the highest scoring game of the entire tournament! Finishing 2nd in division 2 with a 14-6 record was Travis Chaney, raising his rating to 1712 and reentering the top 200 rated players in North America (and moving up to #9 in the state of Oregon).
