Baguettes are a cheap dater's best friend. Super portable, and when good, can set the foundation for a delicious outdoor meal. Take one on your bike today!

$ 10.00 for a live concert? Don't know if that's cheap but that's the price of admission to see Myshkin at Paschal Winery on Friday Sept 11 at 7 PM sharp!

I think one of the ways to meet single people in Ashland, if you're available for dating, is to take dancing classes. Of course, depending upon your taste in music, you could wind up in a group ranging from waltzing octogenerarians to reggae-loving hippies.

Boredom can set in when there's a dearth of active lifestyle. My suggestion to overcome boredom is to find group activities that cater to your interests. The people in those groups typically have common interests. And that helps to break the ice and get people involved in activities together that they enjoy.

Of course, there's always the bar scene, where strangers seek to overcome the fear of rejection by using out-dated opening lines and friendly support from whatever group of friends find it entertaining to push their buddy forward on a dreaded mission to meet someone to whom they are physically attracted.

For more low-key group activity, a hiking group offers opportunity to meet and even talk (imagine that!) to new people. Gardening groups provide the same sort of opportunity. So does cooking classes. Usually these activities attract both men and women, rather than just one or the other.

Volunteering at events also provides an way to be seen by a lot of people and to engage in an exchange of pleasantries without feeling awkward.

Working out at the gym, yoga classes and other varied exercise options help bring people together who have a focus on physical fitness and health. Asking for help or advice is a common (and very acceptable) way to approach someone in such settings.

Karaoke is a fun-filled way to overcome fears of group settings and present your fun side to others.

I think the bottom line is that whatever one's interests are, if you take a look around town at the options available for engaging in that activity in a group setting, I think you'll find plenty of options. And that not only leads to a more active lifestyle that reduces boredom, but also provides plenty of opportunities to meet new people with common with common interests.

My inclination is that one-size-fits-all ideas really don't fit all circumstances and people. So I hesitate to offer my own version of "success," though I am very happily married. Maybe I'll offer some of the things I did when I was single. It was an interesting time in my life. And it was an adventure that may have been call ed a lot of things, but certainly not boring. Let me give it some thought. In the meantime, anyone else have dating tips, ideas to share?

Wouldn't a married person be ideal on dating suggestions? After all, you've succeeded. A dater is still working towards that success, am I wrong? Do tell us, Mike Green, how'd you pull off the blissful end result of the dreaded dating game?

Hmmm ... good point about dating, BA. I bet there are a lot of folks around town thinking the same thing. Maybe dating in Ashland isn't an easy thing. Maybe someone could offer some dating tips? I'm not qualified to do it since I'm married. But perhaps someone who is a successful dater in Ashland could offer suggestions?
