I thought I'd get the ball rolling by bringing up a movie I just recently saw (twice) and fell in love with: Tarsem Singh's THE FALL. It's not quite like an movie I've ever seen--Alphonse Cuaron meets Charlie Chaplin meets Frank Capra?--but it's now on my Take-to-that-Desert-Island list.
Thank you Debra. I would like to recommend a film I saw and the Ashland Independent Film Festival. It is THROW DOWN YOUR HEART and features the banjo player Bela Fleck who went to Africa to visit the villages where the banjo originated. If you love African rhythms and how music unites people from different cultures, this one is for you. I also bought the CD by the same title so I could continue to listen to the music.
