Beekeeper Floyd Pawlowski estimates that there were about 35,000 to 40,000 Apis mellifera type bees near the creek side of the old Masonic Walkway downtown Ashland on May 22, 2007. The bees were taken into Pawlowski's care where he put them in a hive and added them to his inventory. The bees were in transition between hives and drawn to the food on the walkway.
