The Circus, 1870-1950

Great history of the Circus. Not too many people remember that the Circus came to Ashland, Oregon by train. Local children in Ashland's railroad district made extra money getting water for the elephants.

Hi Patrick, Thanks for the link to the article. What a cool building and the winemaking prospect sounds very interesting. It looks like they used the rail line to ship paper. I wonder if the Historical Society would have any info on it that way,…

Hi, I haven't heard of this building, but I think that my friends at Medford Railroad Park might know. We have a lot of retired railroad workers in the valley with a lot of untapped knowledge. If you give me some more information I will ask…

Thank you. Yes, you are correct, that would be $30. I will order the prints right away and get the cards made for you, hopefully by the 2nd of May, but if that isn't possible, is there another place I can deliver them? Ellen

Hi Victoria,
Yes I can make cards with this photo. I do it on blank card stock (a 5X7 card when folded). I sell them for $2 each or a set of 8 for $15. Please let me know how many you would like. It will take approx. 1 week to get them for you. Thanks. Ellen

Hi Victoria,
That info about Lee Chung having his laundry business at 280 A, came from the 1914 Ashland city directory. It wasn't listed as a residence, so I'm hoping someone might come up with a photo of the street showing the original building. I gave you a copy of the map, hoping it might help you find the Buck Rock tunnel. I've hiked to it several times in my youth but I bet I'd get lost now looking for it! Julia

I don't have any of that picture on hand but I can surely make either cards or prints (8X12 is probably the largest that one would print). Let me know what you would like and how many. I would be happy to oblige. ellen

I've not been to the Railroad Museum. I will have to visit one of these days.
Thank you for your compliment on my pictures. I do sell photo cards and larger prints by request. Ellen
