Bantam silkies are great but if you want eggs, best to get a larger breed.

Hey Tad, not to worry about the cat. Cats are usually afraid of grown chickens after being pecked once or t wice. Not to let them loose around baby chicks, of course. My two cats never bothered the chickens as they wandered about the yard.
