ah, toby, a different and distant relation of katherine hepburn, i met him in Eugene in the 80's and 90's. can't remember his name, nor the name of his language, but it was really cool. he started with the word, love, and the four directions, chose a word for love-up, for example, and later a word for love-up-forward, etc. until he had 12,000 words, translated into the 12 major languages, each word having a sound based on phonemes for the base term and additives, so 'love-up-up' would sound like ma-he-he, or whatever. each term was also assigned a color, in a coat of arms fashion, so love-up-up would have a blue field over two yellow fields, or whatever.
that's the part that looked like your pictures, a sentence of colored blocks to be deciphered, or just enjoyed as colors. would nice phrases look as beautful in color? or more harmonious than angry phrases? such were his experiments.
i found his definitions and constructions interesting, how one word led to another revealed things about his take on our society and culture. anyhow, it 'twas fun, interesting, and colorful. i wish i could direct you to it, but my memory.......
