9/11: Pentagon hit by plane? Um, where is it?

This guy is conducting a TV report from the scene of the Pentagon on Sept. 11, 2001. Keep in mind that most the photos of the Pentagon that have endured (very few have) do not show the facade of the Pentagon intact. But the reality is that it was. In fact, as this journalist can attest, the facade did not fall for nearly an hour.

So, where's that gigantic plane? The lawn in front of the Pentagon remained pristine until some trucks were directed to dump gravel all over the lawn. Why? Even if the plane was disintegrated into millions of tiny fragments, wouldn't they all have been gathered up by the agents scouring the lawn and filling their bags and pockets? And how did that circular cylindrical 16-foot hole get made in multiple walls of the Pentagon?

Did any journalist question the government's assessment of the event at the Pentagon on that day, the day after, the day after that ... um, ever?
