Another amazing presentation at Ashland Historic Railroad Museum," The Man Who Loved Trains: The Life and Times of Alfred E. Perlman" by Lee Perlman, local journalist and Vice-President of Ashland Historic Railroad Museum. The Museum was at full capacity again for this one.

One of the first things we are often asked at the Museum is, "When will we have trains in Ashland, even slow ones?" And a lot of people ask, "Why don't we have high-speed trains in this country, like they have in Europe and Japan?" When Lee Perlman told us his father, Alfred E. Perlman, had put two GE aircraft jet engines on top of a passenger train in 1966 and set the Guinness World Record for high-speed trains in the US of over 183 miles per hour, a record that is still standing today, we knew we had to have him speak at the Museum.

If you missed this great presentation, the exhibit is still on for the month of August and September. Come check out the photos of the jet train that AE Perlman co-piloted, establishing the still existing US speed record of over 183 miles per hour in 1966.
